How diverse are the guests on your podcast?

Over the recent years we have seen podcasts really take off in the coaching and personal development industry. I for one love them and I have specific business owners and spiritual leaders I tune into weekly to get my fix.

Over the recent years we have seen podcasts really take off in the coaching and personal development industry. I for one love them and I have specific business owners and spiritual leaders I tune into weekly to get my fix.

However, what is quite clear is the lack of diversity when it comes to guest experts on podcasts. And whilst there has been a heightened awareness of the lack of racial diversity and inclusiveness on podcasts, those who do get invited often come in to speak on DEI matters and that’s great.

BUT

DEI is not the only topic you can invite people of colour to come and speak to on your podcast. There are people of colour in many other industries that can add so much value to your listeners and have unfortunately been left out.

Is this something you’ve thought about for your own podcast and you still draw a blank or maybe it’s just not a priority at the moment?

I encourage you to make it a priority to have diverse representation in your business because it will not only grow your reach but also diversify the type of clients you serve.

Take a moment to look through your podcast guest list. Who have you interviewed? Who do you have lined up as a guest for the rest of the year?

One of the ways you can become intentional about being inclusive is by expanding your network.

Have a look at the people you follow on social media and those who follow you. If you don’t have diversity, it will also impact the kind of guest line up you create.
