Inclusive Language Intensive

(accessed via a pop-podcast, meaning you can listen from wherever and however you choose)

From Monday, 21 August

Harness the power of Inclusive Language to create an expansive and racially inclusive online coaching business.

Attracting and serving more people of colour means your business will be sustainably profitable. And it all begins with your words.

How you communicate reveals who you are and the values you hold.

Your language (on your website, in your socials, and everywhere else you’re visible) sets the tone for what you stand for and determines who you call in (and who you exclude) with your content.

It’s also a great opportunity for potential clients to take a step closer to you knowing you share similar values. When it comes to showcasing the kind of support you offer your clients, if you do not yet work with Black, Brown, Indigenous or People of Colour (BIPOC), using inclusive language is a powerful way to connect with them.

Black women represent 42% of all new women-owned businesses (which is three times the size of their share in the female population). And WOC represent 36% of all Black-owned employer businesses.

BIPOC who have long been identified as minorities are now being classed as the People of the Global Majority (PGM) – meaning much of the world (and your client base) will want (and need) inclusive marketing to trust you and enrol in your programs.

As an entrepreneur dedicated to inclusiveness, equity, and sustainably profitability, part of running your business means learning to use inclusive language to attract BIPOC and serve them without causing harm.

And it begins with your words.

Inside this 3 day inclusive language intensive, you'll discover:

Day One

  • How to connect with your personal why for doing this necessary work (most people find that their reasons are much deeper than they ever could have imagined)
  • How to explore & unpack the concept of inclusive language + how it intersects at a personal / professional level (especially for heart-led businesses who are working for more than just profit – this is legacy building we’re doing)

Day Two

  • The difference between authentic inclusivity and virtue signalling so your business attracts a diverse clientele for years to come (not just when boxes are checked)
  • How to deep dive into your content and identify where you can be more inclusive (we’re talking much deeper than one statement on your About Page)

Day Three

  • The 5 key concepts it takes to provide safeR spaces for people of colour within your programs & offerings (so that you can become known as a leader for ALL kinds of people)

Walk away having a clear play by play description of what it takes to incorporate inclusive language in your business.

I’m Annie Gichuru, a racial equity coach. I support online business owners to build racially equitable businesses so they can be intentionally inclusive.

In 2020 as I watched the life of George Floyd being squeezed out of him while he lay helpless on the ground with a knee to his neck, saying he couldn’t breathe, asking for his mama, my heart broke in a way it hadn’t before.

I knew I couldn’t be silent anymore. It was time to start sharing the need for racial equity in my industry.

Being a black woman as well as a migrant has meant often going silent in order to “comply” with the rules and not upset the status quo. But as a mother, I often think about the legacy I want to leave my children. I want to ensure they and other people of colour get to see themselves represented in positions of leadership, influence and in business too.

That’s why I’m committed to creating a future where racial equity becomes the norm by supporting online business owners to build racially diverse, inclusive and equitable businesses in a way that honours their values.

If that’s the kind of future you’re interested in too – I’d love for us to journey there together.

Brands I have worked with

If you are looking for a quick fix solution or a box ticking exercise, this is not the intensive for you…

But if you’ve looked at your online platforms and realised ‘I’m lacking inclusive language’, and genuinely want to roll up your sleeves and get to work on understanding how to harness the power of language to be more racially inclusive within your online business, then, my friend, this is for you!

Using inclusive language is not just about best practice, it’s about human practice.
